Trapped Between The Mirrors by ~AceOSpades:iconAceOSpades:

There's a place where you can go,
Where time will never be.
A place where giant mirrors glow.
That few will get to see.

A scientist is working there,
Still toiling on his quest.
And if you step into his lair.
Then you will be a test.

Photos burn, and humans age,
And time will never halt.
But what if he could make a cage,
That time could not assault?

Step up on the platform here,
So high above the ground.
You can see yourself so clear,
In mirrors all around.

But with the mirrors angled right,
He makes an image beam.
Your form is in a streak of light,
In every little gleam.

And as it moves around the room,
Through such a complex maze.
Steam shoots out in quite a plume.
The platform starts to raise.

At the sides, two mirrors turn,
And face each other square.
And you, with all your mortal skin,
Are carried far from there.

These two mirrors showing you,
A perfect mirrored dance.
A little spot in space to view,
where time cannot advance.

When you die, remember how,
You were so young and vain.
You're trapped between the mirrors now,
And there you shall remain.

Never dimming, always bright,
Forever you will be.
Standing in the glowing light,
With just yourself to see...

I just finished a kick ass physics course where we discussed quantum physics, among other things. One of the things we talked about was an idea by John Wheeler (I believe) that the universe and the things in it are both reflecting on one another, forever creating observers to observe it as it observes them and so on. Much like two mirrors facing one another.

This got me onto the fun idea of being able to capture an image between two mirrors which created the concept of this poem. God my pieces have been enigmatic and philosophical lately.. I'll tone that down soon I think.

To explain the science fictiony mirror device better as I see it ... it's a system of mirrors that brings the light with the image of the person around the room in a huuuge circle. While the light is taking its trip around the room, the person is removed and another mirror is placed at the end, trapping the light between the final two mirrors. Obviously this can't actually occur, but it's a fun idea.

I hope that isn't too pretentious sounding... enjoy :)

nobody is weird.. its just a word to discriminate people who others find different from them.

even if you never read another thing in your life, read the prologue to The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo... the retelling of narcissus is shockingly reminiscent of this theory

Really? To the point of rip off? Because if that's so it was unintentional... thanks for the tip though, I'll read it sometime.

not rip off at all, but the idea of 2 mirrors, a reflection of each other... it also is an interesting idea of in terms of the modern day definition of narciccism and self worth
