You know those girls who don’t believe
The compliments that they receive?
Here’s a tale they will enjoy
It starts with a girl and boy
The first date, they both are shy
They look each other in the eye
After they eat, they both walk
Staring at the ground, they talk
She likes him, and he likes her
Satisfied is what they were
So let’s skip ahead a bit
To the part where they commit
The three strong words, you know the ones
Each little word can weigh tons
He gets them out, “I love you”
And he did, this part is true
A tear swells up in her eye
She hesitates to reply
She lets out a mighty sigh
And stops him, and asks him “why”
“Why?”, he asks, he can’t explain
The love that runs through every vein
But he looks into her eyes
And for her, he tries and tries
“For starters, you’re lots of fun”
No sooner than he had begun
She begins to argue back
Fighting with his love attack
“You’re so much fun on every date”
“Oh trust me, I’m not that great”
“Your sense of humor is so good”
“I would ditch it if I could”
“Well you know for sure you’re cute”
But even this she does dispute
And this lovely evening date
Has become a hot debate
Personality is subjective
Modified by his perspective
But he could prove he loves her beauty
And soon this became his duty
He had a friend who worked in fashion
He called him up to prove his passion
This friend examined all her beauty
And said to her that she’s a cutie
“Aha!”, He said, “you must agree
With this expert I have with me!”
She shakes her head and does reply
“You could have just paid him to lie”
The guy is now all to keen
He gets a polygraph machine
And decides to take a test
The needles jump if he is stressed
With one hand upon his knee
She asked him “do you love me?”
He just nods and answers “yes”
The needles flat, there is no stress
She lets out another sigh
“You know those machines can lie
One in ten times they can fail
Innocent men go to jail”
“You’re beautiful!” “No I’m not!”
“Look at me, I’m not that hot”
“Shut up”, he said “you’re great for me”
And still the girl did disagree
To help accomplish his new goal
He conducts a random poll
Then he hosts a dating game
All of this to prove his aim
She gets picked every dating game
The girl thinks that it is lame
The poll comes back, she gets the votes
Along with nice handwritten notes
Of course she didn’t believe this
He shrugged and gave her a kiss
When they’re done, she raised her brow
“You think I’m gonna agree now?”
He caves and loves her anyway
They’re still together, to this day
You’ll never ever hear her say
She likes the girl she is today
In the end, love is still blind
And beauty can’t be defined
And to the end, she still denied
The great person she was inside
